Forno Lento
A wood-fired bakery with no food photos: the live bake board and big type carry the appetite.

Brief
- Who & when
- Locals deciding tonight or this morning, mostly on phones, often hungry.
- Main task
- See what’s coming out of the oven today and request a table.
- Must not look like
- A rustic chalkboard cliché, a fine-dining minimal page, a delivery app.
- Success
- Within one screen, know what’s fresh now and how to get a table.
Three directions
Oven Ticket
The kitchen ticket rail and the oven thermometer: dark like the oven mouth, flame-yellow like the fire.
Big Shoulders 800 + Work Sans
A dark page for food with no photos; type scale must carry it.
Flour Sack
Kraft-paper sack print with a stamped one-colour logo.
Alfa Slab One + IBM Plex Sans
Too close to the rustic cliché the brief forbids.
Neighbourhood Poster
A Swiss-style street poster with big opening-hour numbers.
Archivo Black + Inter Tight
Feels like an event, and red + white reads fast food.
Why this one: A is the only direction where “what’s fresh now” is the hero, and it stays clear of the rustic cliché.

What the review caught
Self-review against screenshots at 1440 px and 390 px. Each round lists the issue and the fix.
- 390 px: the bake board (the main task) started below the fold → reordered on mobile.
- Contrast: light text on the “Sold out” badge was ~3.6:1 → dark text, ~5:1 (WCAG AA).
- Font renamed on Google Fonts (Big Shoulders Display → Big Shoulders) → code and DESIGN.md updated.
